Despite being bitter rivals during the hard-fought campaign, US president-elect Barack Obama and John McCain have pledged to work side by side, saying Americans are looking for leaders who will come together and “change the bad habits of Washington.”

As Republican presidential candidate John McCain arrived at the Albright United Methodist Church in Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday to vote, scores of supporters cheered: “Go, John, go.”

McCain campaign aides said Friday he would appear on the show. No further details were immediately available. However, it will be interesting to see how McCain works with the scheduled guest host, noted Democrat and actor Ben Affleck. David Cook is the musical guest.

On the 41st anniversary of being shot down over Hanoi, Sen. John McCain faced a barrage of questions about his campaign's viability, the benefits of his running mate, and his criticisms of Sen. Barack Obama.
"We're doing fine," McCain told Tom Brokaw on NBC's "Meet the Press" in Waterloo, Iowa. "We have closed in the last week. We continue this close through next week, you're going to be up very, very late on election night."
